Played central role in the expansion of an independent provider of commercial kitchen equipment repair from $30M to $90M revenue and 9 to 30 US locations with 200+ highly trained technicians. Key figure in driving growth through savvy marketing, while also professionalizing the business and standardizing operations.

  • Initiated a brand update of the business to better differentiate the company, which included developing a new brand identity.
  • Promoted a storytelling culture through blogging, intranet, and social media.
  • Grew site traffic 275% by getting company ranked #1 on Google for keywords in 25/29 markets through optimization.
  • Managed web, email, social, e-commerce, SEO, and advertising.

Branch Manager | General Parts Group | Tucson, Arizona

March 2009 – June 2013

Managed General Parts Group’s Tucson, AZ location. Responsible for all aspects of the operation which supplied commercial restaurant field service repair as well as offering a commercial O.E.M. replacement parts sales counter.

  • Increased the service capacity by 50% through the hiring and training of additional field service technicians.
  • Tested and launched new field-service mobile technology hardware.
  • Redeveloped and promoted the parts counter increasing sales by 25%.
  • Won significant contacts with In-N-Out Burger and the Mohave Purchasing Group.
  • Worked with the sales team to implement CRM.
  • Reworked the commercial aspects of the branch to maximize billing accuracy and profitability.

Operations Manager | Matthews Packaging Graphics | Alameda, California

May 2008 – Mar 2009

Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of a $6.5M thirty-person facility that produced packaging graphics and flexographic printing plates for national/international food brands.

  • Implemented new team-working processes and broke down departmental boundaries to create a whole facility over-delivery attitude.
  • Interacted daily with both customers and the field sales team and created open channel 360° feedback to the plant.
  • Re-launched the quality control system including enhancements to the MIS system to deliver meaningful reporting to measure efficiency gains.

Pre-Media Director | HH Associates Ltd | London, UK

May 2006 – Oct 2007

Reviewed all aspects of the existing HH Pre-Media (artwork and pre-press) resource and implemented plans and procedures for expanding this service to both existing and new clients internationally. HH Associates (now HH Global) is a UK headquartered Print Management Company delivering Market Communications graphics and printed materials globally for brand such as HP, Google, and Adidas.

  • Day-to-day management of all Pre-Media team members over three sites.
  • Promotion of Pre-Media services to both internal and external clients.
  • Identification and purchase of new production equipment to create an on-line quality control gateway for third party supplied artwork which reduced the supplied art file error rate to zero.

Business Dev Mgr./Print Mgmt. Director | TAG Worldwide | London, UK

Mar 2004 – May 2005

Employed to deliver Tag’s strategy of extending new print management services to its existing client base. Tag is a creator and deliverer of advertising materials internationally. This new service was successfully launched with Absolut Vodka, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS Group), and H&M Stores generating margins of 25%.

  • Sourced and launched a pan-European supply base of large format outdoor poster printers, negotiated contacts and price.
  • Negotiated a joint venture with an external Print Management company for magazine and publishing work.
  • Training of account management associates in print buying principles.
  • Added the new print management service to all new sales tenders.
    Profit and loss responsibility.

Early Career

Managing Director | Watt Gilchrist Ltd. (now Sun Strategy) | Leeds, UK

Throughout 20 years achieved success in every key aspect of the business. Watt Gilchrist is a designer and producer of high-quality graphic assets for the retail and packaging (flexo, rotogravure, litho and digital) industries.

Managing Director 1999 to 2004

  • Identified the Watt Group as a future partner/owner of Gilchrist and then promoted and helped facilitate the sale of the company, resulting in a wider service and geographical footprint.
  • Opened a creative design office in Leeds with annual sales of $2.8 million.
  • Opened the Gilchrist office in Toronto, Canada, increasing capacity by 5% and ensuring a strong business presence in North America.
  • Personally Won $1M of business from Wal-Mart USA.
  • Conceptualizer / key member of the international development team which created/coded the company’s On-Line Digital In- formation Network (ODIN), the first full feature graphic packaging planning > concept > delivery CRM (SaaS) tool of its kind globally.
